Dear Baby: A Birthday. →
This was beautiful, Melissa. It’s definitely about making the most of the moments you have.
dearbaby:
I set my alarm for 6:45am. Plenty of time to wake up Everly early so that she could see the decorations that Brent and I had hung for her late the night before. Instead, at 6:15am, I heard the thump thump of little feet down the hallway and saw her tiny frame,...
18 Guidelines For A Grown-Up Wardrobe →
This was a cool little blog post I stumbled upon this morning. I really struggled with this a couple years ago. I went from being a total tom-boy to a late bloomer to a mom without ever giving much thought to fashion and how it can affect how you feel about yourself or how others perceive you. Along the way I picked up a huge collection of band t-shirts, low-waisted jeans that no longer fit the...
Listening Habits
I keep coming back to this album. Different lines and melodies stand out to me whenever I revisit it. It’s funny because I detested the first single, Who Says, and it took a while for the rest of the album to grow on me.
These songs are just so well crafted. The melodies are a bit haunting. The lyrics are exactly what you wished you could have said in the heat of the moment, in those...
That song is so brilliantly written...
JOHN MAYER - Heartbreak Warfare lyrics
Lightning strikes Inside, my chest to keep me up at night Dream of ways To make you understand my pain Clouds of sulfur in the air Bombs are falling everywhere It’s heartbreak warfare Once you want it to begin, No one really ever wins In heartbreak warfare If you want more love, why don’t you say so? If you want more love, why don’t you...
January 1, 2012
This month I will finally go back to college. That in itself is remarkable. I also plan to focus greatly on improving my health this year and finally gaining the self-discipline I need to overcome this stinkin’ yeast allergy. If all works out, Lily will also begin preschool sometime (hopefully) soon. And creatively, I plan to start writing my memoir. I will move forward this year.
I also...

What you are shouts so loudly in my ears I cannot hear what you say.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
Thinking Out Loud
I’ve always dreamed of hiking the Appalachian Trail without ever considering it a reality. I think I want to change that. A quarter of the trail lies in my home state of Virginia. I think I should start there. Within the next five years I want to hike the 550 miles of the AT in Virginia. That is just over a month on the trail.
Anyone have any major hike experience they want to share? I...

A "Real" Mom Shopping List...
Emphasis on REAL.
I just had a brief moment of “Where has my life gone?” when I looked at the short shopping list I was writing throughout my morning. It looked something like this…
Shopping List -fiber tablets -mouthwash -stain remover -glitter
I mean, really? Sheesh!
If not for the glitter, I would think I was 75 years old. But this is so obviously a Mom List. These, my...
I need to start Lily her own Tumblr
Because she keeps saying these very wise things like…
“Girls like candy…(pensive pause)…all the time.”
I can’t help but laugh out loud, literally, at these serious moments of hers.
Crummy Weather and a TV Update
It’s really cruddy outside. It has been all morning. It’s this weird sideways, misty rain that is really cold. Crummy days are good movie-watching-under-covers-kinds of days. So, Lily and I watched the Winnie the Pooh movie this morning with breakfast. I watched the episode of New Girl that I had missed. (Which was freakin’ HILARIOUS, btw!) Lily watched another cartoon while I...

I watch too much tv
Since becoming involved with Justin, I now watch entirely too much television. I hate it. Yet, I can’t stop myself. I have a show to watch nearly every night of the week. I have DVR for when I’m not able to be home to watch “my shows”. Sometimes I even watch shows online when my DVR can’t record it because it’s already recording two other shows.
SERIOUSLY?!?!

Lily's Quote of the Day
“Mommy, you’re the best cooker whole wide world.”
:) Just made my day!
Wandering and Wondering
Just had some old lyrics of mine pop into my head. Funny how even nine years later they are just relevant, just in a different way.
“…I’ve been searching for myself and I know I’m gonna find her.
She’s wandering in the Blue Ridge and I can’t be far behind her…”
I think I need a sabbatical to the mountains to clear my head and get my heart right.
Worship is a verb. What is the subject for you? →
Thanks for sharing that, Matt!

WORSHIP IS KILLING ME
I was 23 years old, and already a few years into a fog of doubt and confusion that was slowly suffocating me. I was not unaware of my situation, but my diagnosis was way off the mark. To be sure, I knew that I had “lost my faith,” but I didn’t understand why.
THE…

Great teaching on Philippians 2:14-18 →
Feeling renewed. Sometimes we need a reminder. I’m glad it didn’t come in a swift kick in the head for once. :) It’s a beautiful day. I’m looking forward to sharing it with some family and friends today.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and...
